Before I even began my preliminary tropical beach sketches for
the diptych: Latitude & Attitude, I
decided that they were both destined to be watercolor paintings of
relaxed & open tropical space…. These tropical beach paintings
would have space to breathe. My compositional studies kept moving
me towards the final compositions you see here. My eye and brain,
busy with composition & balance, had the hardest time accepting
“Latitude” on an equal par with “Attitude”, but the final relaxed
open space of the diptych told me that I was right in my decision.
“Latitude” would only belong, if “Attitude” would accompany
it. After all, what good would there be in visiting a tropical
latitude, without the proper attitude?
